In Nanjing, China, there stands a haunting statue known as the “Endless Tears.” It was built on the site of a World War II comfort station, where countless women were enslaved by the Japanese army. The statue cries real tears every day, no matter how often visitors wipe them away. Her endless tears represent a pain that can never be forgotten.
This idea might be difficult to replicate, but it is a very compelling sight to see!
Maybe this gave some inspiration to the 2026 initiative by the British Channel 4 to create a “puking fountain” to promote its documentary series “Dirty Business”. The series portrays a decade-long investigation into sewage contaminated water by Water Companies in Oxfordshire carried out by two neighbours, who notice fish in the local Windrush river are dying, and receive help from a sewage plant whistle blower. The series also follows a family who lost an eight-year daughter due to E-coli poisoning.
